I finally found out why, for the record... seems some cards are better accelerated for GDI than DirectX, and I should use normal blits to draw the Window instead of DX blits. ;)

I'll test that theory eventually, as well as all the other suggestions I saved, for a final release of Ami99. Only thing stopping me from doing it now (besides being swamped and the fact that MESS blew right past me ;) ) is that I'm still hoping to work out what the CPU bug I have is (although I have an idea for that, too).

Couple months, and there oughta be a big (and final) Ami99 release, which will make it at least usable to the average person, or so I hope. I've come a long way in learning the Win32 API than when I last worked on it and will use some of that knowledge to try and get the project up to speed. ;)

But I'll repeat my comment that the video speed is just fine and dandy on Voodoo and TNT2 cards. ;)
