I have also been working with TI99SIM-0.0.3.i686.TAR and installed SDL-1.1.3.
I can run TI-SDL under my Linux Mandrake 7.0 system, BUT it has a trouble with the keyboard : I can't get the number keys to work, so it's unusable.
Anyone got better results ?
