Without a Disk Manager, you can not format disks to use in the system. If you have TI compatible diskettes already, however, they will work fine.
If you also have the 32k RAM and Editor/Assembler, you can do a quick hunt and locate Disk Manager 1000 - it does an excellent job and supports high density formats than DM 1 or 2 cartridges did. ;)
