I titled my message "MESS vs Ami99" because I once tried your work in progress and never got it to work on my PII400/64MB/6GB Win98 system.

v9t9 did quite well, especially because it was written in assembly language, but it's too old, and I can't get noise and speech with it on my sblive card.
Like you I was very impressed with MESS : it works, and as you say, only needs to get ported to W32.
However, MESS for DOS works very well under Win98 and Linux, and for now, that is it.

:haven't worked much on Ami99 lately - the work I
:did was mostly driven on the feedback I got.
:Since most of the issues that generated feedback
:are resolved, I guess I can stop feeling guilty
:about not working on it.

if you want feedback, then you'll get a lot if you manage to build a project that would get back our old cassette tape programs to FIAD files.
PLEASE do this, and you'll get a LOT of feedback!
Too bad your email to the MESS team was never answered. They'd better get you in their team, sure !

Waiting for a nice little utility, a piece of program that never got achieved and always told about ... the ".wav to FIAD utility" !
Let's call it WTF converter ?
