I looked more closely as my copy starts up, and it does run the disk as well, for about 8-10 seconds before starting. Your systems kicks my system's butt, Jim. ;)
I'm really not sure why your copy takes so long to start up... it's not likely to be low RAM! Your system setup is pretty much the same as mine at home, in fact, except that you have a P3 and I have a P2, and we have different video cards.
At the moment, I have no idea for your issue. :/
