Speech Synthesizer

Postby 58limited » June 20th, 2012, 3:15 pm

I ran across a speech synthesizer with a blue button on the front. I've never seen one like it, not to say I've seen very many in general. Is it anything special?

A switch like that is usually for one of three things: a load interrupt switch, a single step button, or a reset button. You'd have to look at what was done inside the Speech synthesizer to be sure.

Thanks for the reply, ksarul.

The speech synthesizer is listed on ebay so I can't look at it in person. I'll ask the seller to flip the top open and take a picture.

One additional note on it, as I took a quick look at the eBay listing: it really could be any of the mods I listed, and all of them would be something done by one of the previous owners, as they did not come from the factory modified this way. All three of the possible mods were somewhat popular with power users, so it is a good find.

Thanks ksarul. The seller will sell it separately, any idea how much i should offer?

The price is pretty high on that auction. A Speech Synthesizer without the mod is in the $10 to $15 range at best, with the mod, that would probably go into the $25-$35 range, not much more unless you are really wanting it. The Boxcar RS-232 would probably go for between $30 and $50, depending on how many people were looking for it right now (there are about 10-20 of us out there who have really comprehensive hardware collections and who might be needing one, with a small number of casual collectors who might try as well). As seen from the text above, the seller's price is quite a bit higher than the current market--though I wish you luck getting them down to something normal.

Thanks again, I'll offer something along those lines. The seller had an external drive with external disk controller sidecar but she sold it while I was trying to make an offer. She sold a PEB with disk controller, memory expansion, and rs-232 card for $200 (which I thought was high) - after I advised her to open the top and show what was inside. No interest in it until then.

I apologise, but, in my opinion, you are not right. I am assured. I can defend the position. Write to me in PM, we will talk.

Judging by your user info and signature line (which keeps changing - not selling celebrex now?), you are a spammer/scammer. We can talk here in the open, this is not a secret topic.
